Title: Tears that make us grow

The artwork is based on combination of conceptualism, expressionism and minimalism; focused more on expressing the concept rather than the details by using the simplest and fewest elements to create the maximum effect.

“In life, we will meet two kinds of people, the ones who build us up, and the ones who tear us down; but in the end you’ll thank them both.”

There are many different people that we may encounter throughout our lifetime that creates drama, obstacles and lessons for us. In depicting this lifetime experience, I selected the growth of a beansprout to symbolise the concept. Despite the fact that heavy rains can damage any part of a plant, it is the main source for survival of plants to grow from a small bean, to a strong plant.

The color of the sprout; combining the color range of green, chartreuse, lawn green with complements of yellow and sienna depicts the neonatal innocence of humanity growing through hurtful tears to becoming a stronger adolescent, like how a small bean going through heavy rains, growing into a beautiful plant.

The eye in the black and white background depicts the emotion in life. The tears represent difficulties we have fought through, whether it is humiliation, embarrassment, failure, disappointment or hardship. After all, they are merely inevitable challenges that made for us to grow as an individual. However, without any of them, we are just one of those non-germinating seeds, never be able to truly survive and mature.

What If

The words “what” and “if” are two simple words, but put them together side-by-side, they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: “What if..?”

Life is all about choices. Your life is based on the decisions you make. Whilst every little choice could turn your life around, that is when dilemma occurs: to stay right here, or to risk yourself walking to an unknown way to pursue your dreams. The way down may seem as difficult as it may be, but if you think what you feel is true, why do you doubt your own intuition? Giving up for sure will bot bring you anywhere. You need only the courage to follow your heart, to seize it and to leave no regrets.

I selected the theme of yellow, purple, red, pink and orange to depict the colors of life with joy, mystery, liveliness and rich of memories. What if these are not the colors I dream to have? What if I could not survive in pursuing my dream?

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try once more following your heart and keeping your faith.
